The American Barbecue Atlas is a research project created by Colby Brownlee. For questions about your information, email research@barbecueatlas.com.

Atlas updates

When you sign up, we collect your email address through EmailOctopus to send occasional research notes and project updates. You must confirm your subscription using the email sent to your inbox.

EmailOctopus processes subscription requests, confirmation records and unsubscribe requests. It may also record technical and email activity information, such as IP addresses, delivery, opens and link clicks. EmailOctopus processes mailing-list information on our behalf under the data processing schedule in its Terms of Use.

You can unsubscribe using the link in any Atlas update, or contact us to request removal. Information may be retained to record your subscription preferences and prevent further emails after you unsubscribe.

Bot protection

The signup form uses Google reCAPTCHA to help prevent automated submissions. Google processes technical information for this service under its Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Research correspondence

If you email the Atlas, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send. We use Google Workspace to handle this correspondence. Contacting us about research does not subscribe you to Atlas updates.

Questions and requests

For access, correction or deletion requests, contact research@barbecueatlas.com. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information through the signup form.
